Fall River, MA: On Saturday, January 21, 2006 the Massachusetts State Judo Championships were hosted by Taki Gawa Judo Club in Fall River, MA. Sixteen members of Pedro’s Judo Center of Wakefield, MA claimed the State Championship Title, while 38 team members in all grabbed medals from the event. An exceptional performance was turned in by Alex Kwmuntis of Peabody, MA who won two state championship titles by winning his own division and moving up in weight class to claim the title in the higher weight division. “I am extremely proud of Alex because he has worked very hard this year at judo and has come a long way in a short time due to his level of dedication. Overall I think the team competed very well and I am proud of them,” commented head coach Jimmy Pedro. “But I am more proud of the fact that these students are not only winning in judo, they are excelling in the classroom. Our Mission at Pedro’s Judo is to produce leaders and champions on and off the mat – and so far every one of them is living up to my expectations.”
