Pedro’s Judo Students Capture 7 Liberty Bell Titles and finish 3rd as a Team

Philadelphia, PA: Over 800 competitors from all over the United States gathered at the Lincoln High School field house in Philadelphia, PA this past weekend for the 19th Annual Liberty Bell Judo Championships. The Liberty Bell event is one of the strongest judo events in the country for juniors outside of the national championships and ranked by USA Judo as a level E senior competition.
Seven members of Pedro’s Judo Center (Wakefield, MA) took home the crown from this year’s Liberty Bell Judo event. The team finished in third place in the overall team standings behind 1st and 2nd place teams, Mayo Quanchi (Rhode Island) and Kiitsu Sai (Florida), respectively. The tournament champions from Pedro’s Judo included; Antonia Vinciarelli (Lynn, MA), Kyle Byrd (Londonderry, NH), Luke Boyle (Boxford, MA), Dante Vinciarelli (Lynn, MA), Janelle Sullivan (Medford, MA), Chris Round, (No. Andover, MA), and Dan Simmler (Grafton, MA). Second place performances were turned in by AJ Pedro (Methuen, MA), Matthew Sullivan (Medford, MA), Olivia Winsor (Lynnfield, MA), Brandie Sullivan (Medford, MA), Bryanna Sullivan (Medford, MA), and Rick Hawn (Woburn, MA). Finishing in third place in the event was Brandon DesFosses (Methuen, MA), Casey Pedro (Methuen, MA), Sharon Yacubowicz (Andover, MA), Justin Lawrence (Middleton, MA), Meghan Arena (Medford, MA) and Dan Simmler (Grafton, MA).
