FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 2, 2007 - Philadelphia, PA: Over 800 competitors from all over the United States gathered at the Lincoln High School field house in Philadelphia, PA on the weekend of March 31st for the 20th Annual Liberty Bell Judo Championships. The Liberty Bell event is one of the strongest judo events in the country for juniors outside of the national championships and ranked by USA Judo as a level E senior competition. Due to a busy competition schedule during the month of March, only seven members of Pedro’s Judo Center Junior competition team took the long trip to Philadelphia. Coached by Sensei George Kwmuntis, two took home the crown from this year’s event, and two others settled for Bronze. The tournament champions from Pedro’s Judo included: John Boyle (Boxford, MA, Boys 7-9 years old, under 34 kg) and Sharon Yacubowicz (Andover, MA, Girls 13-16 years old, under 41 kg).
