FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Pedro’s Dojo Wins 14 National Judo Titles Boca Raton & Ft. Lauderdale, FL: Over the course of the past two weekends, students from Pedro’s Dojo in Wakefield, MA competed in two separate national judo championships - the United States Judo Association (USJA) nationals held in Boca Raton, Fl. on July 15 – 16th and the United States Judo Federation (USJF) nationals held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. on July 22-23rd. The Pedro’s Judo Team captured a total of 14 national championship titles, 25 medals overall, and finished 3rd place in the overall team standings in the country. Five members of the team turned in exceptional performances and won back to back titles to claim gold medals in both the USJA and USJF Nationals. The double gold medalists were: AJ Pedro (Methuen, MA) – Boys 8 yr old Under 31 kg (68 lbs) Casey Pedro (Methuen, MA) – Girls 9-10 yr old Under 43 kg (95 lbs) Frank Falco (Peabody, MA) –Boys 9-10 yr old Under 42 kg (92 lbs) Antonia Vinciarelli (Lynn, MA) – Girls 8 yr old Under 31 kg (68 lbs) Dante Vinciarelli (Lynn, MA) – Boys 11-12 yr old Under 53 kg (116lbs) In addition, AJ Pedro, the son of two-time Olympic bronze medalist Jimmy Pedro, earned the best technique award at the USJF nationals and received a trophy as big as he was. “I am extremely proud of AJ and the way he competed these past two weekends.
